Phim câm "lên tiếng" tại Oscar 2012

Đúng như dự kiến, bộ phim câm The Artist là một trong những ứng cử viên lớn nhất tại lễ trao giải Oscar năm nay. Thế nhưng, nó không phải là phim có cơ hội chiến thắng lớn nhất của giải thưởng điện ảnh danh giá. "Ông hoàng" của đề cử Oscar năm 2012 chính là Hugo của Martin Scorsese. Bộ phim 3D giả tưởng dành cho trẻ em dẫn đầu cuộc đua Oscar năm nay với 11 đề cử, bao gồm cả giải thưởng đáng mơ ước Phim xuất sắc nhất. Còn The Artist theo sát sau với 10 đề cử. Bộ phim cũng có trong tay 5 đề cử chính gồm Phim xuất sắc nhất, Đạo diễn xuất sắc nhất, Kịch bản xuất sắc nhất, Nam diễn viên chính xuất sắc nhất và Nữ diễn viên chính xuất sắc nhất.


Bên cạnh The Artist và Hugo, đề cử cho hạng mục Phim xuất sắc nhất còn có 7 ứng cử viên sáng giá gồm The Descendants, The Help, Moneyball, Midnight in Paris, The Tree of Life, War Horse và Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Những thay đổi gần đây trong quy tắc bình chọn của Oscar cho hạng mục Phim xuất sắc nhất đã giúp 9 bộ phim trên hội đủ điều kiện bởi vì chúng thu được số lượng phiếu bầu ở các vị trí đầu tiên.


Ở hạng mục Nam diễn viên chính xuất sắc nhất, nam diễn viên nổi tiếng George Clooney (The Descendants) sẽ phải đối đầu với bạn thân trên màn ảnh và ngoài đời - Brad Pitt (Moneyball). Trong khi đó, giải thưởng Nữ diễn viên chính xuất sắc nhất sẽ là cuộc đối đầu giữa Rooney Mara với các diễn viên "nặng ký" như Meryl Streep và Glenn Close.


Giải thưởng của Viện Hàn lâm Khoa học và Nghệ thuật điện ảnh cho những thành tựu xuất sắc nhất trên màn bạc năm 2011 sẽ được công bố vào ngày 26/2/2012 tại Nhà hát Kodak ở Hollywood & Highland Center. Chương trình sẽ được truyền hình trực tiếp trên kênh ABC tại hơn 200 quốc gia trên toàn thế giới.
